There are a lot of wonderful diapers out there… Not a great sales pitch for our own el bee baby diaper but we want to pay homage to all the fantastic diapers that already exist out there. The best diapers (in our opinion anyways!) are made by 'work-at-home-mothers' (aka WAHM). The quality, attention to detail, and sense of fun is unparalleled by mass produced diapers.

That said, you might ask: "If there are so many great diapers out there what makes yours special?"
Well… I'm very 'particular' (sometimes a good thing, sometimes a bad thing!) and rather obsessed with fit and design. I found lots of great diapers across the land but not one that was quite like I wanted it to be… so I took the bull by the horns and made it myself. I don't claim that this diaper will suit everyone out there but if you are looking for a diaper that is trim and well made, this might well be the diaper for you!

Here's what makes the el bee baby cloth diaper stand out:

  • It is very trim! We've pared away at the traditional diaper shape to make a diaper that fits a little more closely. It's a little narrower through the stride to make a more comfortable, less bulky fit. It dips a little lower in the front and is a little higher cut on the legs.

    · It has just the right absorbancy! Each diaper has a 3 layer soaker. This makes it absorbant enough to be functional but not so absorbant that the diaper would take forever and a day to dry.

    · It has a tidy bound edge. This makes our diaper fit comfortably, and retain its original shape better. (and it looks nice!)

  • · It has snap closures! Snaps are hard for curious toddlers to undo! They also don't collect lint or get all tangled up in the wash like hook and loop diapers do!

  • · The waist is very adjustable! The snaps are set quite close together to allow for a good fit on any size of baby!

  • · It comes in a variety of beautiful organic fabrics.

The el bee baby diaper uses hard wearing polyurethane elastic in a gentle gather at the back of the waist. (The elastic is covered by the binding) This is effective in containing those notorious 'up the back' poop disasters!
You will also find polyurethane elastic at the leg opening that is effective at creating a good seal.

We're offering two different styles of diaper these days. Our original is a front snapping style and we've added a sidesnapping model too.

Our skyrocketing hydro bills prompted us to offer a 'speed dry' version of our diapers that dries in a flash (relatively speaking!). We've taken out the inner soaker completely and have paired the diaper with a wider, thicker version of the lay in doubler that we like to refer to as the 'supersoaker'.

We offer our diapers either in undyed fabric or in handdyed fabric. We handdye all of our fabric ourselves in small batches. Colours can vary somewhat from batch to batch

Currently we offer the following colour choices:
Banana yellow
Squash yellow
Canteloupe orange
Carrot orange
Tomato red
Eggplant
Purple
Lavender
Denim
Sky blue
Robin's egg blue
Forest green
Grass green
Celery
Chocolate brown
Pale pink
Bubblegum pink
Fuschia

*keep in mind when choosing colours that they appear quite different on each type of fabric! Organic cotton fleece is much more muted than organic velour!
